Qed Tifhem?!

I must admit it. I am worried and slightly afraid of the situation in Malta. I usually used to take Norman Lowell with a pinch of salt and laugh at his rhetoric. However lately it is not just rhetoric. There is something going on. The people that work with or speak favourably of the rights of illegal immigrants are ending up with having their cars or their front doors on fire.

I am sure that this is no coincidence. The Jesuit Refugee Services has been doing this kind of work for a very long time, but only now that the far right, Norman Lowell and the ANR are voicing their ideas that these attacks started on these people. The link is obvious.

What I am truly worried about is that sometimes I believe that history does repeat itself. My fears are that the times have done a complete cycle and the Klu Klux Klan, the Nazi and Hitler are about to return. The same arguments presented by good old Nazi are being re-presented to us. The same misinterpretation of Nietzsche done by Hitler is being re-misinterpreted by Lowell.

Is it really true that history is repeating itself? Shall we go through World War II again in a decade or so? Or is it just a phase that will not escalate further and will soon be remembered as the times when a Neo Nazi used to be on a local station and people laughed at his rhetoric? Who knows? However I must admit it, I am afraid.

The "far right" has been around for a lot longer than you would think. Norman Lowell emerged around 2001/2 (judging by the Maltafly interviews), VivaMalta and its predecessor AveMelita have been around for quite a while, and the same opinions discussed there had been discussed since time immemorial on other Maltese forums such as SearchMalta, Xarabank.com and Maltafly.

Yet the attacks happened only recently; four whole years after Lowell started "voicing [his] ideas" / his audio interviews spread like wildfire across the Maltese internet community.

I'm sorry, but I see absolutely no link there. And neither do the police investigating the arson attacks, apparently.

No Link?!?! "Lowell started voicing his ideas" 4/5 years ago. True. However meetings and protests were only organised for the 1st time recently. 4 yrs ago Lowell was just a joke. The interviews done by Maltafly were considered a joke. These debates started publicly and in a fervent manner only recently. 4 years ago the debate was surely not as hot as today. Now that the debate is hot, protests are organised etc. we are getting these arson attacks. Lowell himself sees the link and does not condemn the violent acts as he states that the Jesuits brought it upon themselves. Look at it objectively Kenneth, and you will see the link shouting at your face.

The police might not have proof as since the person/s committing the attack is not caught, they can never know for sure. But look at the facts objectively, and links are all there.

At first, my suspicions headed that way, too. It even made perfect sense for the police to interrogate some VivaMalta members. But as the arson attacks escalated, it dawned on me that these same "far right" movements would be the last entities to benefit from any such attacks (the Jesuits were just one of the victims, why does everyone keep on forgetting all the other victims?) They are already drowning in a flood of constant bad PR, so why would they be so stupid as to make matters even worse for themselves, and by doing so, taking away all the chances of ever getting their point across?

As far as I know, NL himself had stated that he doesn't condone the attacks and condemned the violence in a letter of his that was published on the newspapers.

Finally, and I hope everyone reading this will think hard enough about it, by eliminating Norman Lowell and every "Neo-nazi" "racist" "xenophobe" "fascist" far right movement you can imagine, do not fool yourself into believing that the illegal immigration problem will subdue and the people's sentiments will change. Jekk għandek siġra marida, inutli noqogħdu naqtgħulha l-frott il-ħażin li jispunta minn żmien għall-ieħor, għax il-problema hemm se tibqa'.

I don't think that the attacks are done by members of the far right movements. Well actually it could be but, probaby it is not the case. However I think that those that are committing the acts are being instigated by the far right movements. That is the link I am talking about.

With regards to who are the viictims if you think about it thay all worked with asylum seekers, or spoke in favour of those who did. Both Saviour Balzan and Daphne Caruana Galizia lately spoke in favour of illegal immigrants.

I agree with you about the last point. The problem is ingrained within the human race. There is no way this can be solved. Eliminating far right sentiments does not solve the immigration problem, but the far right movement is not providing solutions either. If anything it is causing more problems. The immigration problem has to be solved diplomatically with other countries, especially EU countries, where they should shoulder their responsabilities and help us out.

Definitely drowning the immigrants, or sending them back where they will be killed is not a solution to the problem.

Sending them back to their Continent is the solution and not share them between European countries, else they will keep coming here and flood europe, fools. Neither Malta and neither the EU have the ability to take a decision, i cannot believe this foolish behaviour.

Africa is many times larger then Europe. Why do you think they cross to another continent and not go to the closest safest place in their own continent ?

their place is africa.we are being invaded by everyone chinese, russians etc. We don't have air enough to breath, let alone having all these people here. The government must do something about it and send everybody back! They say "poor people" we should help them, whose is helping us?.
